Educated buyers know that step one is shopping for a mortgage. While it may not be as much fun as looking at homes, a home buyer needs to get pre-approved for a mortgage first. You are not just buying a home; you are “buying” money for that home in the form of a mortgage. Let us help you find the right one!

Don’t worry about privacy….we don’t need to see your financial records. With a broad overview about your situation, we can give you good advice about which banks have the best programs for you. You should talk privately with your mortgage professional and complete an application for a loan as soon as possible. Your mortgage lender will help you determine the price range that is right for you.

In preparation for your meeting with your lender put together a file with your important financial documents including:

  • Bank Statements
  • Credit Card Statements
  • Pay Stubs
  • Any other loan statements including auto loans
  • Tax returns for two years
  • 401 K statements
  • Statements for any investment accounts including stocks, bonds and mutual accounts.

Remember while you are in the process of purchasing a home it is not a good time to make sudden career changes or large purchases. Your credit score will have a major impact on what type of property you can buy and what interest rate you will pay so make sure to maintain financial stability throughout the process.

With a pre-approval letter from a lender, you are now ready to shop for your home!
