There really isn’t anything much better than finding a local restaurant with a great ambiance, nice people, tasty food and incredible specials. In Cary, Bocci Italian Restaurant is a place that we try to stop in at least once a week.
The dining room is charming and an excellent destination for dinner with the family. But the friendly bar is where we like to experience Bocci. They offer a tremendous happy hour with $5 appetizers served from 4-7pm Mon-Thur.
Our favorite $5 appetizer is the Mussels Bianca, piled high in a large bowl with a very lovely garlic, butter and white wine sauce. After appetizers it is hard to resist one of their thin crust Brick Oven Pizzas where you can build your own from a simple but great Italian sausage to a gourmet version from a list of 27 toppings, including prosciutto, minced garlic and artichokes.
Somehow we can’t end the evening without sharing a piece of New York style cheesecake. Other than the one coming out of my friend Diane’s kitchen, this is the best cheesecake I have had south of Manhattan! So stop in and say hello to Eric or Steven at the bar and give Bocci a try!
