Nothing says North Carolina like great barbecue so here are 2 local favorites in the triangle area.
Ready for a nice drive this Fall? Head out to Allen’s BBQ in Chapel Hill. It’s located in a cinder block building just north of I-40 on NC-86. This is a no frills restaurant with great North Carolina BBQ. The pulled pork sandwich has a wonderful smoky flavor and you can always top it with their spicy warm vinegar sauce if you’re in the mood for some more excitement. Make sure to leave room for homemade desserts including favorites like coconut pie or chocolate pie, which are served warm!
Our second BBQ recommendation in the Triangle area is Dixie Belle Smokehouse. This restaurant in Apex is located at Davis Drive and Old Jenks Road. It is locally owned and serves up savory, hickory smoked meats. Try the Blue Plate Special, which includes a pork ndwich, slaw, hush puppies and a drink for just $5.49. Or try one of their other great smoked meat options including the beef brisket which rivals the best in Texas, or check out their smoked chicken, turkey or bratwurst. With over 20 sides, as well as family packs to go, Dixie Belle is a great place for lunch or an easy take-out dinner.
