When I’m in a new town I always ask a local where to eat. It’s the best way to find a great meal at an affordable price. . If you find yourself in the city of Apex, NC and are in the mood for great seafood, make sure not to drive by Skippers Fish Fry. This humble looking building at1001 E. Williams Street is nothing short of spectacular. From friendly service to truly delicious and fresh seafood, you’d be hard pressed to find someone with a complaint about this place.
While the ambiance is a bit like a fast food restaurant, the food is anything but! Skipper’s ‘skips’ on all the bells and whistles of a full service restaurant and focuses on the most important thing – The Food. There isn’t a hostess, or waitresses, or linen covered tables. You walk up to a counter and order your food. The staff is very hospitable and can steer you in the right direction if you can’t decide what to have.
Skipper’s specializes in fried seafood. They use a house-seasoning blend and always use clean frying oil, so you won’t ever get that old, tainted oil taste that you get from most fast food restaurants.
Everything is wonderful but once I tried the incredible fish sandwich lunch plate with onion rings, it is hard to order anything else. You will love the huge piece of fish, fried to perfection with a heap of skinny onion rings plus hushpuppies. It doesn’t get any better even at the coast!
So the next time you’re in the mood for some good seafood, pay Skipper’s Fish Fry a visit and afterwards tell your friends about this local gem.
